Data collection for the EPC databases
The 2015 survey presents a follow-up to the survey carried out in 2013 aimed at obtaining information on the EPC market in the EU. Both surveys contained questions around four main areas: existing ESCOs and national EPC market; EPC models, financing models and policy initiatives. Thanks to the very similiar survey design, comparisons between the years 2013 and 2015 can be made easily.
The EPC Market Databases can be found in the website´s menu on the left:
In both 2013 and 2015 surveys, the first step in collecting the data used in the EPC databases was to distribute a questionnaire focused on Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) to the country's most relevant market players. While in the 2013 survey, the respondents were energy services companies, organisations and finance houses, in 2015 the respondents included EPC providers and facilitators (consultancies):
- In 2015 altogether, 112 EPC providers and facilitators from 20 countries across Europe filled in the survey including the largest EPC providers. The survey had been made available online in order to make the distribution process as easy as possible.
- The 2013 survey was sent and communicated to most major EPC providers across the 20 EU countries involved in the Transparense project, through direct meetings, phone conversations or emails. It was filled in in full by 141 of the EPC providers. A slightly different survey, modified for a different target audience - banks and finance houses - was also sent to the major banks and financiers across the 20 EU countries. Responses were obtained for 42 of them.
